Delve into the history of Hospices de Strasbourg wines, where the centuries-old cellar has been located beneath the civil hospital since time immemorial.
This iconic cellar houses Alsace vintages, produced from our harvest and vinified on the estate. Carefully selected during blind tastings, these wines deserve the honor of being aged in the historic cellar of the Hospices de Strasbourg.
After 6 to 10 months in oak barrels, our wines acquire finesse and longevity, revealing unique aromatic expressions. The wood adds a subtle touch, structuring each cuvée.
During their maturation, our wines share the charm of the cellar with the “oldest wine in the world,” dating back to 1472. Similar to the Hospices de Beaune, this cellar is nestled in the heart of the Hôpital Civil de Strasbourg, perpetuating a prestigious wine-making tradition.
Aging our wines in the oak barrels of the Hospices de Strasbourg has long been a source of pride for the estate. This honor has allowed us to inscribe our expertise in a centuries-old tradition, where the richness of the Alsatian terroir meets the grandeur of an emblematic place.
These wines, refined in the heart of historic cellars, developed a unique signature:
Each bottle carried within it a heritage, a memory, and a part of the soul of Strasbourg.
Today, these Hospices de Strasbourg vintages are no longer available for sale. But they continue to inspire our choices, our passion, and our commitment to winemaking. And the future remains open: it is not out of the question that we may once again offer wines aged in these prestigious barrels.
