Discover all about Gewurztraminer from Alsace, a very expressive grape variety

Tasting

Sight: the colour is intense, yellow with light golden reflections. The red colour of the grapes naturally influences the wine.
The nose: a real aromatic palette, rich and exuberant, with a powerful and complex bouquet. It is an explosion of exotic fruits (lychee, pineapple, mango...), flowers (rose in particular), spices (gingerbread, clove, pepper).
Frequent aromas of honey and ripe fruit also contribute to the impression of incomparable richness.
Taste: it is a full-bodied wine, well structured with fullness and fatness. The freshness is always more discreet than for the other Alsatian grape varieties.
Harvested in over-ripening, Gewurztraminers give sweet to syrupy wines, of great richness and extraordinary aromatic complexity.

Gastronomy

Gewurztraminer is the very image of the originality and typicality of Alsace wines. It goes perfectly with spicy dishes and strong cheeses such as Munster, but also with foie gras and the strongest spices or aromatic herbs.

It is also the ideal partner for many Asian dishes: Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai and Indian cuisine.

Ampélographie

Leaf: Small, round, three-lobed with red veins.
Bunch : Small, truncated cone-shaped, rather loose.
Berry: Small, round, pink to light red in colour. Its fragrant juice has a slightly musky taste.
